Maria A Garcia

Maria Asunción Garcia, affectionately known as “Mami,” was born on August 15, 1938, in Tuxpan, near Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico. After residing for many years in El Centro, California, she later made her home in San Diego to live with her family. She passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.

Maria was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose unwavering faith, kindness, and grace touched all who knew her. Her life was a reflection of love, resilience, and steadfast devotion to her family and to God.

She is survived by her daughter, Zoraida Baker Singley, and son-in-law, Rich Singley; her six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. They will forever treasure her memory and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind.

A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Maria Asunción Garcia will be held at Ascension Catholic Parish, 11292 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, California, on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Ascension Parish Pavilion.

May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
