I was reading through some old papers and found an old note Mr. Nault had written to me...so I looked him up to thank him.  I was very saddened to find out that he had passed.  He was one of those people that you meet in life that stay forever in your mind.  I remember making him a staff and a drawing of Walter Cronkite (apparently he really liked both)  they were my saving grace as I passed his class.  I remember that there were no desks...only bean bags.  I remember as well his love of polyester and ascots.   He made going to school at RHS most enjoyable...He is surely missed.

Mr. Nault was special. He taught me that if you treat people like adults, they'll behave like adults, and that if you invite people to care they frequently will.

I was saddened to learn the Professor Nault has passed.  I wanted to look him up and thank him for opening up my mind as a youth.  Nault taught me about the Peace Corps and the belief that citizens should serve their country and the world.  8 years later I would enroll in the U.S. Peace Corps and fulfill a dream that he inspired.  I'm forever grateful for a teacher that knew how to reach young minds and make them think for themselves.  You will be missed Professor Nault but your legacy will survive in the hearts and minds of those your taught.

I just learned of Mr. Nault's passing.  What a loss.  My condolences to his family.  He taught me for two years at Sandy Springs High School, first in U.S. History, then in Government.  I never had a better teacher.  He thought us to think and made it fun.  After more than 50 years I still think of him often.

I just learned about Mr. Nault's passing.  I'd like to offer my condolences to his family.  Mr. Nault was such an amazing teacher.  I had him for US & German History at RHS, and I tell stories about him quite often.  He was one of a kind...caring, funny, knowledgeable, and a great story teller.  He truly was the best and will be greatly missed!  I know that his stories will live on for many years to come.

Mr. Nault was above and beyond the best teacher I had at RHS. He taught us to think for ourselves. One of my favorite memories of RHS: I always looked forward to walking past his classroom in the morning, as "Jessica" was always playing on his stereo. The man was a great teacher, and a great lover of music. Here's to you, Mr. Nault! You are missed.

I took his German history class at Roswell HS...I'll always remember him as the first professor I had that treated me/my  peers as adults.  He was an inspiring teacher that made me want to learn more.  On top of that, he was a great story teller and very much brought history to life.  I am sorry that I was not able to tell him this before his passing, but am glad that I was able to have been one of his students.

Mr. Nault was the teacher we all remembered. He had a way of making you feel good about going to class. What you had to say was important. He could tell a story that was interesting, funny, and kept you tuned in. All of a sudden, you realized that you just learned something. Educators of his kind are few and far between and I am the better for having been one of his many students. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Nault was a remarkable, gifted teacher and an inspiration to his students, including me. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Everyone should have a Mr. Nault as a teacher in their lifetime!

Fond, fond memories of 5th period American History class and his stirring lectures on the Civil War. Most memorable moment- right after JFK was shot, I had Mr. Nault for my next class. He had the only TV in the school, and we watched the drama unfold in muted incredulity. I taught  high school for 31 years, and Mr. Nault and Miss Crooks stand out as outstanding examples for me to follow. RIP.

Mr. Nault was my U.S. History, Philosophy Teacher.  He taught me much about life.  And questioning from all angles. Put yourself in other peoples shoes. Although I must admit that man loved is Velcro shoes. He was like a modern day Socrates to me. Rest in peace friend. And thank you

I had A. J. Nault for German History, probably in 1974. I held on to the notes from the class for years. He really made that class come alive. Later, when i went to Germany to see my new born nephew, i took memories of that class with me. I also remember him teasing me. he had a great sense of humor. I hope that you will find solace in knowing that he touched so many lives

What a wonderful influence he had on so many students! I loved learning from Mr. Nault and will miss him.

There are a few select teachers that make a major impact on a set of students lives and Mr. Nault was one of those teachers.  Its been over 30 years since I was in his class but I have never forgotten him.  Class of 70 SSHS

The best teacher I've ever had. He made history come alive and I loved that he marched to the beat of a different drummer. 
I won't forget Mr. Nault walking  across the desks with his pointer in hand  to get our attention.

My prayers are with all his family. I've been blessed with many wonderful teachers, but Mr. Nault was the very best. I graduated from Sandy Springs High in 1972 & I never forgot Mr. Nault. About 10 years ago, I was living in California & I sent him a letter telling him how valuable his teaching was to my life - I'm glad that I did that then & I'm glad that I have to chance to share my thanks with his family now. Very best regards.

Mr. Nault will be missed by all who loved him. Not only his family but his former students. I loved that he treated all of his students with kindness and respect. I never saw him be unkind to any of his students. He was compassionate and caring and thoroughly loved teaching. Mr. Nault you were very much loved and will be missed by all that knew you.

Mr. Nault, as he was known to all of us at RHS, was a wonderful teacher, who was able to nurture our interest and love for history and learning in general. He is personally responsible for my own love of history. He will be greatly missed.

My prayers and condolences go out to the Nault family.  Mr. Nault was a great teacher and the students loved him, including myself. Mr. Nault was an inspirational, provocative and hilarious teacher.  One of the first to treat his students as critical thinkers;  I knew if I challenged him, I had to be ready to back it up.  And he would say, "Ms. Dew, any final words before I destroy your theory?"  Smart, honest and irreverent...all great qualities in a teacher!  I remember him telling us we would all fail his tests because it was his brain against ours.  I also recall being a little shocked at the poster of his young son holding a gun next to the poster of Cheryl Teigs!  He was the greatest!

What an honor to have experienced his teaching in his prime. Mr. Nault was one of a kind. My condolences to his entire family.

I am 50 year old and to this day I talk about Mr Nault to my 18 year old son .  He touch many RIP.

Mr. Nault was such an incredible and unforgettable teacher.  I was blessed with the opportunity to have him for U.S. history.  I will always remember my times in his class.  Prayers for his family during this difficult time.

You must feel very blessed to have known AJ Nault as a husband or father or grandfather.  Those of us who only knew him as a teacher loved him.  I can't imagine how wonderful it must have been to be part of his family.  I am only one of many who claim him as their favorite high school teacher.
