Allene Walton Bradford

Allene Walton Bradford, 88, passed away January 13, 2015. Allene was born on March 29, 1926 to John Everett and Nellie Walton of Hiram GA. After high school she briefly attended Berry College, then went to live with her sister Kate and work in Atlanta as receptionist for an optometrist. There she met her husband and love of her life, Jack Bradford. They settled in Sandy Springs GA and were married 53 years until his death. Allene was preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Louise, Kate and Bonnie and brothers John Weyman and Joe. She is survived by her brother Wendall, daughter Pat and husband Currey Gayle, two grandchildren, Jennie Douglas and husband Michael of Thomasville GA, Rob Gayle and wife Kasey of Marietta GA, four wonderful great-grandchildren James Douglas, Joe Douglas, Lynly Grace Gayle and Bradford Gayle, who all loved their GiGi. Special thanks to all the caregivers and to Heritage Hospice of Marietta for the loving and compassionate care they gave her. Her family was truly blessed to have her as a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt for so many wonderful years. Funeral services will be at Sandy Springs Chapel in Sandy Springs at 2 p.m. on Thursday Jan.15, with the Rev. Jimmy Hood and Rev. Kendall Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Sandy Springs Chapel. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery, for family only. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1444 Bethel Church Road, Hiram GA 30141 or to Heritage Hospice, 3315 Hill Top Drive, Marietta, GA 30066.
