Born in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of Elisabeth Carter Stearns and James Coleman Stearns. She graduated from Vero Beach High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. She then graduated from the University of Florida, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Anne lived in Atlanta, Georgia for more than fifty years before returning to Denver, Colorado in 2022.
Anne loved her family, all beaches, but particularly Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine, the mountains, phone calls, birthdays, and dogs. She was known for unwitting amusing remarks, as well as marching to the beat of her own drum.
Anne was predeceased by her first husband Richard Herrick. She is survived by her daughter Kristen Anne Lindberg Holder (Bo), of Denver, Colorado, her grandchildren Andrew James Lingle and Caroline Grant Lingle, her sister Beth Carter Stearns, her niece Kate Elisabeth Conway (Chris Harris), and her nephew Daniel Carter Conway (Jessica Im).
The family is planning a private graveside service, at Anne’s request, at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, or to your favorite charity.
