
Bennie Brennan Stoughton, age 97 died November 4, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Augusta, Georgia, November 10, 1916, where she spent her childhood. Following WW11, she settled in Atlanta with her husband of 64 years, J. Brady Stoughton, Jr. Bennie was a Registered Nurse at the VA Hospital in Augusta and also at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. She became a real estate agent in the 1960’s and played a part in pioneering that career for women and was an early and frequent recipient of the Million Dollar Club Award. Throughout her tenure in real estate she received multiple awards for outstanding sales achievements. Bennie has been a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church since moving into the Sandy Springs area in 1966. She will be remembered for her kindness and jovial spirit but most of all for her love of family. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Marti and Don Digby of Greensboro, NC and sons and daughters in law G. Warren and Toni Stoughton of Atlanta and Thomas B. and Pamela Stoughton of Atlanta. LaLa leaves behind her grandchildren, Cori Crane, Brittany Wetherhold, Lisa Stoughton, Patrick Stoughton, Alexandra Stoughton, Brady Marie Stoughton, Matt Richardson, Joey Digby, Lisa Porter, Kate Digby, Suzy Brummel and great grandchildren Liza and Lauren Crane and McKinley, Karsyn and Mia Stoughton. A Funeral Mass will be said Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Msgr James Fennessy will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Care or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
