Camelia Marie Orgeron

Camelia Marie (Fremin) Orgeron, currently of Cumming, GA and longtime resident of the Atlanta area, died April 6, 2018, at the age of 92. Camelia was born in the Algiers area of New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 3, 1925, to Edward Peter Fremin, Sr. and Della Apoline (Breaux) Fremin.

A truly remarkable wife, mother, friend and homemaker, Camelia was an excellent cook who loved preparing delicious dishes reflecting her Cajun heritage for family and friends. She passed on that love of food, cooking and life to each of her children.

Camelia created and maintained a beautiful and loving home for her family and filled it with fun, happiness, laughter - and lots of sweets, whether it was in Louisiana, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey or Georgia.

Camelia’s passion was reading, so she was always well-informed and possessed a keen eye for art and style.

All who had the good fortune of knowing Camelia, gained a true and dear friend with an unstoppable sense of humor.

Camelia, a practicing Roman Catholic and enjoyed spending time volunteering at church. She was preceded in death by her devoted, loving husband of 65 years, Joseph Donald (J.D.) Orgeron, Sr. She was also preceded by her father, Edward Peter Fremin, Sr., mother Della Apoline (Breaux) Fremin and brother, Edward Peter Fremin, Jr., all of Larose, LA.

Camelia is survived by her four children and their spouses: Adele Orgeron (Bob) Siler, Cumming, GA, Joseph Donald (Marci) Orgeron, Jr., Gulfport, FL, James Edward (Karen) Orgeron, Woodstock, GA, John David (Elaine) Orgeron, Marietta, GA. She cherished her grandchildren: Jason Siler, Devin Siler, Taylor Orgeron, Ansley Orgeron, Austin Orgeron, Elodie Orgeron and her two great-grandchildren: Kerrington Siler and Porter Siler.

The family extends to all who lovingly cared for Camelia their most heart felt gratitude.

A funeral service celebrating Camelia's life will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11:00am at the Sandy Springs Chapel with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Entombment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA. 30328.
