

Carl W. Dixon, 68, of Marietta, GA, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was predeceased by his Father, T.E. Dixon and brothers, James and George Dixon. He is survived by his wife Dee Dixon; daughters, Rebecca Dixon of Tampa, FL, Bethann DeGrow Smith (Sam) of Knoxville, TN, Aimee DeGrow Davis (Gart) of Murfreesboro, TN, Beth Wright (Warren) of Casselberry, FL and Casey Dixon of Kennesaw, GA; sons, Chris Dixon (Jean) of Port Orange, FL; Mother, Nona Mae Dixon of Sheffield, AL; sisters, Linda Goins of Tuscumbia, AL, Sue Davis (Anthony) of Tuscumbia, AL; brother, Larry Dixon (Kathy) of Muscle Shoals, AL; and 6 grandchildren. Carl graduated from Sheffield High School, attended the University of North Alabama and completed his degree in Orlando, FL. For 14 years, Carl worked for Southern Railroad as many of his ancestors did and current family still do. He spent the last 17 years of his career as an accountant with Wagner, Johnston & Rosenthal Law Firm from which he. His book Still Here and Kickin’, a published autobiography, tells of his personal struggle and journey with cancer and how to make the most of life and survival through any life altering event. His faith and active membership at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock provided the solid foundation for his full and honorable life. A visitation will be held Friday, December 2, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. A memorial service with a reception to follow will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
