

Heaven welcomed another angel. Catherine “Cathy” Burton Nalley, 58, passed away the morning of August 4, 2011 peacefully in her sleep at home in Gainesville, GA. She was born August 30, 1952 to the late Louise and Home Burton, and married to the late James Leon “Odie” Nalley. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen “Cookie Stiles. She is survived by her only child, Jamie Lea Nalley, 29, Gainesville, GA, who resided in the home with Cathy to care for her; her sisters, Nancy Maloney, Patti Burton and Terry Hopper; brother, Joseph Burton; sister-in-law, Judy P. Burton; godson, Sid Hopper; and many nieces and nephews. Survived also by many adopted children, Niko Badalamente, Michael Lewis, Shanna Estes, Morgan Bosch and Amanda Earnest. As well as many adopted grandbabies, Jayden, Ava, Zaedyn, Connor, Ella and Joleigh who better knew her as “Crazy Grammy”. Cathy cherished many things in life and overcame many obstacles, such as losing one of her legs, two traumatic car accidents and COPD. She is now in heaven with her husband, Odie, and late best friend James Thomas, enjoying her new leg and deer hunting. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, family and friends, being with her sister Nancy, to which they were always joined at the hip, grilling out and playing with her grandpups, Taterbug, Riddick, Lelo, and Reef. Heaven has gained one amazing angel and she will be missed by many people here on Earth. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. Inurnment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to the COPD foundation and Humane Society for the love she had for animals.
