Claire Elizabeth Catledge Leslie, 96, of Sandy Springs, GA, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2017. Claire was born January 6, 1921, in Madison, FL. Upon graduation from Madison High School, she entered business school in Jacksonville, FL, earning her associates degree. She married her high school sweetheart Madison Crawford (M.C.) Leslie on Christmas Day 1941. The Leslies moved from Florida to Sandy Springs in 1958 and soon became active members of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church, where both served in numerous leadership positions. Claire was dedicated to her family, her friends, her church, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was also dedicated to her job as bookkeeper for Robert Liss & Associates, continuing in that position part-time until just a few years ago. Claire loved music, was an accomplished pianist, a ferocious bridge player, and the best cheese straw baker of all time. Claire is predeceased by her husband M.C. Leslie and their son James M. Leslie. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Jack Coates and Carolyn and Mike Purcell; daughter-in-law Naruewan Kankloi Leslie; grandchildren Leslie Purcell, Lem Purcell and wife Dana, Leslie Coates Burpee and husband Dan, Sara Coates Miller, Robin Elizabeth Leslie, and Christopher Leslie; five great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation and Reception will be Saturday, February 18, 2 p.m., Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall; Celebration of Life, 3 p.m., SSUMC Sanctuary; Interment following the service at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SSUMC Pipe Organ Endowment Fund, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, or the charity of your choice.
