"Don" Donald R. Russell

Donald R. Russell, age 93 died June 3, 2016 at his home in Roswell, GA. Mr. Russell lived in Charlotte, NC, for 40 years where he graduated from Kings College and went on to serve as the Executive Vice President of Consolidated Credit Co. From Charlotte, he moved to Sandy Springs, GA, where he owned and operated his own business, Commercial Broker Co. Mr. Russell was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army-Air Corp and served in the Pacific in WWII; his service meant a great deal to him. Mr. Russell was married to the love of his life for 64 years, Marion B. Russell, who precedes him in death. He is also preceded in death by his son, Richard Edward Russell. Mr. Russell is a long time member of Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church and a member of the Sandy Springs Rotary Club. He is survived by his daughters, Jeanne Anthony and her husband Stewart, as well as Susan Higdon and her husband David; daughter-in-law, Caren Russell; seven grandchildren, Ashley Sanders (Sean), Meredith Dutlinger (Andy), Taylor Higdon (Caty), Matthew Russell (Bridget), Christopher Russell, Bradley Russell (Heather), Jason Higdon (Melanie); ten great grandchildren; brother, James O. Russell, and niece, Rachel Hubbard. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 3:00pm at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church. A visitation will be Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA.
