A native of Cherokee County Georgia, she was the daughter of Minnie Lathem Beavers and Grady Beavers, and was preceded in death by her husband Carl Cavender, her sister Margaree Haley, and brothers Durell Horace and Herbert Beavers and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucy Rogers of Marietta; grandchildren, Britt, Jr. and Karen Rogers of Simpsonville, SC; Amy and Daniel Vining of Sugar Hill, GA; Jennifer and Mark Goddard of Canton, GA; and Stephany and Bob McFadden of Auburn, AL; great grandchildren, Justin and Madison Vining, Lindsay Vining, Billy Goddard, Caroline Goddard, Walker McFadden and Brooks McFadden. She is also survived by her nieces, Annette Mickel, Angie Mickel, and nephews, Craig Mickel and Lee Beavers. The family is especially grateful for the care and compassion that she received from her devoted caregiver Pauline Francis.
“Granny Dot”, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed making pottery and putting her trademark “DOT” stamp on the bottom of it. She loved working in the nursery at her church because of her love of children. In her younger days, she loved spending time with her family at Siesta on Lake Allatoona. She had a very long and active life. She was most proud of her family.
She was of the Christian faith, and served actively in many areas of Brookhaven Baptist Church in Brookhaven, GA while her health permitted.
