

Elmer Curtis Bryant, 92, of Atlanta, GA died Monday, November 17, 2014. He passed away at his home in Atlanta, GA from natural causes after battling a short illness. Elmer was born in Sargent, GA to the late Floyd Patrick and Florine Bryant. Elmer was the oldest of three brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, Lillian Petree Bryant, and two brothers Pat Bryant and Don Bryant. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Rita Bryant of Marietta, GA and Larry and Nancy Bryant of Statesboro, GA. He is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Bennett and Jeanette Leary, a brother, Ray Bryant, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Elmer was a veteran WWII and served most of his four years as a Sergeant in the 8th Air Force in Norwich, England. After the war Elmer began his career in the textile industry. He worked his way up in the Henry Chanin Corp. from the warehouse, to salesman, eventually starting his own company Bryant Textiles, Inc. in 1958. His older son John and youngest brother Ray worked with him in the company for over thirty years. Elmer was a long time member of the Cherokee Town and Country Club and former president of the Atlanta Textile Club. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and loved watching baseball, football, and golf. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held this Thursday at Sandy Springs Chapel. Visitation with family will be at 10:30am followed by service at 11:30am.
