

It is with great sadness that the family of Emily Rierson (Lieu-Nhu Bich Tran) announces that she passed away in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 24th, 2016, after bravely fighting lupus for many years. Emily was born in Dalat, Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in 1981. She lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, for five years where she studied at Guilford College, completing a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, she worked in banking, and later in information technology. She was full of life, loved ballroom dancing, horseback riding, listening to music, and traveling. Above all, she was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Emily is survived by her mother Leha Cagle, her father Nam Hien Tran, her brother Thang Vinh Tran, her sisters Binh-Minh Ribler and Tuyet Huynh, her nieces, her nephew, and her devoted friend William Snell. A funeral service will be held at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Georgia, on Thursday, July 28th at 7pm. Visitation begins at 5pm. The burial will be held at Wake Memorial Park, 7002 Green Hope School Road, Cary, North Carolina, on Saturday, July 30th at 11 am. Memorial donations can be made to Lupus Foundation of America.
