

He was born on August 20, 1950 in Bronx, NY. The son of late Salvatore Calo and Giovanna Calo. Loved forever by his three children, eldest Eva Sigrid Dech, and her mother Charlene T. Dech, sons Jostin Tsali Calo, and Jovani Brahm Calo, their mother and life partner, Meredith Ann Joseph, sister Josephine Sala, niece Jennifer Orso, and nephews Rocco Sala and Nicholas Sala.
A celebration of life service is scheduled for Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2pm at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mount Vernon Hwy NW, Atlanta, Ga, 30328.
Talented musician and performer, his love of music started in high school where he was inspired by music teacher, Joseph Viola at Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY, playing saxophone, flute and clarinet. He continued his studies in music composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma. Throughout his life, Sonny played with various bands nationwide and internationally, inspiring people throughout the community with his music. Exceptionally gifted saxophonist, he brought joy to people of all ages creating special performances.
Devoted father, husband, son, brother, friend, teacher, and a light to all. He was dedicated to his family and children, a spiritual man of great faith. He uplifted everyone he came in contact with. He had a deep love of life, the natural world, animals and all living things. Sonny’s great kindness and love will live on forever.
