
George Williams Hunt of Sandy Springs, GA, died April 17, 2011, of complications from a hip fracture. He was born November 24, 1913, in Baker County, GA, and moved to the Albertville, AL area. He was a devoted family man to his wife Ruby Roe Hunt, who died in 2001, and his children. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (David) Scoular; son, Larry (Betty) Hunt; granddaughters, Jennifer Hunt of Frederick, MD, Emily (Paul) Zeigler of Roswell, GA, Allison (John) Skidgel of Oakland, CA; and great granddaughters, Rachel Zeigler, Anna Zeigler, Sadie Zeigler, Beatriz Skidgel, and Ava Skidgel. Before retirement Mr. Hunt was a manager for thirty-nine years at the Anniston Army Depot in Bynum, AL. A great interest in his life was travelling with his wife in their Airstream trailer. They visited every state in the contiguous United States and parts of Canada and Mexico. He was active in the Bynum Baptist Church, where he and Ruby were charter members. He was on the building committee which built the present church. He served for many years as church treasurer. Mr. Hunt was active in the Lions Club International and filled many posts in the Bynum, AL club including president. The Hunts moved to Jacksonville, AL, after retirement and later to Sandy Springs, GA, to be near their daughter. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Friday, April 22, 2011. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am at the Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Interment at Kilpatrick Cemetery, Kilpatrick, AL at 4:00 pm CDT.
