Jackie was born November 26, 1951, in Pittsburgh, PA to Carl and Hope (Haslop) Hursh, the second of four children. She was a graduate of Gateway Senior High School, the Ivy School of Professional Art, and served four years in the United States Air Force. She was very proud of her service and a supporter of Tunnel to Towers.
Jackie’s career path spanned a wide variety of businesses including BellSouth, OKI Electric Industry, Hitachi, and the company she retired from, CEDAR Document Technologies, where she was a technical writer. Her work at Hitachi offered her the opportunity to live and work in Yokohama, Japan. She embraced the opportunity; she and her daughter lived there for several years, all the while developing lifelong friendships.
Foremost, Jackie was a loving and proud mother who found great joy in raising her beautiful daughter, Erica. Jackie is reunited with her parents and Erica. She will be greatly missed by her siblings Carl Hursh of Mechanicsburg, PA, Kathi Hursh (Chip) of Sewickley, PA, and Robert Hursh of Seattle, WA, her niece and nephew, cousins, and many friends. Jackie was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt who imparted unconditional love and support.
Jackie was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, loyal to the black and gold wherever she lived. She enjoyed cooking various cuisines, gardening, and working in many artistic mediums. Jackie was quick-witted with a sharp sense of humor; she championed a good pun. Above all she was steady and loyal and could always be counted on for a listening ear whenever it was needed.
Her warmth, laughter, and steadfast love will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of life will be held in April 2027.
