Mrs. Joan Haworth Young passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2013. Joan was born on May 26, 1929 in Baltimore, MD and grew up in Columbus, OH, where she attended the Columbus School for Girls and Ohio State University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Her many interests and hobbies included gardening, handwork, reading, bridge and socializing with her friends at Mt Vernon Towers, where she lived. She also enjoyed traveling extensively, and taking summer trips to the beach with her family. Joan is survived by her sons Rusty (Heather), Oak Creek, WI, Richard (Nancy), Sandy Springs and Steve (Dede) Young, Roswell, GA as well as her beloved grandchildren Hayley and Anna Young, Oak Creek, WI, Caroline, Collin, Ryan and Lainey Young, Sandy Springs, GA and Stephen and Garrett Young, Roswell GA. She was the best mother, mother-in-law and grandmother anyone could have ever asked for, and will be so very dearly missed. Joan was predeceased by her mother, Louise Watt, father, Richard Haworth, and sister, Kathleen Gibson. The family will be receiving friends at Sandy Springs Chapel on Saturday, February 23 from 1-3pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan’s honor to Mt Vernon Towers.
