

Joseph Lee Hendrix of Sandy Springs, GA passed away on December 31, 2016. He was proceeded in death (In 2000)by his wife of 39 years, Mildred Price Hendrix. He is survived by his children: Heidi and Michael (deceased) Chisholm, Holli and Trent Hudson, Hunter and Mandy Hendrix, and eight grandchildren. (John aned Hannah Chisholm, Conner and Emma Hudson, and Billy, Brody, Cooper, and Tanner Hendrix). He is also survived by four sisters and a brother and sister that proceeded him in death. Mr. Hendrix had a varied career and felt very fortunate to have lived his life, he was born in Kokomo, Indiana on January 12, 1936 of Earl E. Hendrix and Elizabeth E. Land Hendrix. He graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1957. He taught school for one year; proudly served in the USAF on a B-52 for six years reaching the rank of captain; worked and retired from IBM after 28 years in various sales, support, management, and staff positions; and finished up his working career as a real estate agent for 2 different agencies. He was raised (as his grandmother said) in the Quaker Persuation although he spent most of his adult life attending the Methodist Church with his wife and family. He was a member of the DBS class of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. He wishes in Lieu of flowers that donations be made to either the Sandy Springs UMC Feed and Seed Fund or to the American Friends Service Committee: 1501 Cherry Street Philadelphia, PA 19102. He would like the world to know that he was not as good as his friends may depict nor as bad as his enemies might portray him. He would like to have done better. The family will receive friends at Sandy Springs Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday January 4, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday January 5, 2017 at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church at 2:00pm with burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
