Joseph Donald Orgeron, Sr. currently of Cumming and longtime resident of Atlanta area died April 11, 2013. He was born August 19, 1925 in Larose, LA. JD retired from the Dow Chemical Company as District Sales Manager in 1983 after 27 years of service. He worked as an epidemiologist for the State of Louisiana from 1949-1957. He earned a Master Degree in Public Health from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA in 1955 and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Southwest Louisiana Institute, Lafayette, LA in 1949. JD served honorably during WWII in the US Army and continued his service in the Reserve Corps and National Guard. Mr. Orgeron was a practicing Roman Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus. On August 20, 1947, he married his sweetheart, Camelia Marie Fremin in Larose, LA. He is survived by Camelia, his wife of 65 years; children, Adele Orgeron (Bob) Siler, Cumming, GA, Joseph Donald (Marci) Orgeron, Jr., St. Petersburg, FL, James Edward (Karen) Orgeron, Woodstock, GA, John David (Elaine) Orgeron, Marietta, GA, brother, Clyde Augustin Orgeron, Thibodaux, LA, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Augustin Fortunate Orgeron, Larose, LA, mother, Nola Barrilleaux Orgeron, Larose, LA, sister, Noella Orgeron Charitat, Thibodaux, LA, brother, Lloyd Elmer “Buzzy” Orgeron, Jennings, LA. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel with Father Joseph Ramos officiating. Entombment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service at Sandy Springs Chapel 136 Mt Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
