She was born Oct. 10, 1934 in Madison, ME., the daughter of late George Haines Rogers and Sylvia Trenton Rogers.
Joyce was a graduate of Madison Memorial High, where she has maintained friendships from her childhood for many years.
On July 21, 1956 she married John Winthrop Sibley, after meeting while she attended Fisher College in Boston, MA.
From 1956 – 1959 they traveled the world while he served as an Officer in the Air Force including USAFB in Okinawa, Japan which she truly loved. Her home is still artfully decorated in the pieces they collected there.
Not only did she travel the world but she was also able to live in many different places here in the states, including New York City where she brought Robin, her first born, into the world. Joyce moved on to Greenwich, CT., and then to Pasadena, CA. where she gave birth to Stacy and then John-John. They moved to Denver, CO. where her children began school and everyone learned the challenge, art, and joy of snow skiing. In 1972 the family moved to Atlanta, where they made their permanent home in her favorite neighborhood off Riverside Drive, in Rivershore Estates. Joyce was a Realtor for most of her life with Northside Realty in Sandy Springs. It is there that she met her friend for life Charlotte Mann Ayers. They worked together in private residential developments with North Farm in Alpharetta, GA. She referred to Charlotte as her sister and an extended part of the family.
All of her life Joyce was known for making a true fashion statement through her wardrobe, accessories and polished presentation. This trait has inevitably became a part of her daughters and her grandson Travis as they continue her legacy. In March of 2015 she would have celebrated her 10th anniversary with Chico’s, a women’s retail store, where she had a tremendous following of avid clients and admirers of her style.
Joyce was a woman of unique class, tremendous character, and a passionate thirst to live each day to the fullest and be happy in all that you do.
