Judy was born in Detroit, Michigan, and went on to attend Eastern Michigan University where she earned a degree in retail marketing. After graduation she became a buyer for the JL Hudson company and married the love of her life, Ted Steven McRoberts.
Judy lived a full and remarkable life marked by family, faith, entrepreneurship, and adventure. A brilliant businesswoman, Judy built a successful career in real estate and repeatedly earned recognition in the Million Dollar Club at her brokerage firms. She had a sharp mind for business and a natural ability to see possibilities; whether in a property, a project, or a new adventure- including founding and running Laurelwood Personal Care home with her husband, Ted, alongside their real estate investments together.
Judy also loved to travel and saw much of the world throughout her life, visiting places across Europe, Australia, China, and beyond. She had a deep appreciation for beauty, history, and experience, and she carried that curiosity with her wherever she went. At home, Judy found joy in gardening and her green thumb was legendary. She created beautiful gardens with the same care and attention she brought to so many areas of her life. She was also a beloved member of her Sunday school class at Peachtree Presbyterian Church and volunteered for the Fox Theatre for more than a decade.
Judy is survived by her sister, Penny Johnson, and daughters: Tiffany McRoberts Wray (Will) and Ashley McRoberts-Stewart (Michael) She was also very loved by her grandchildren, Kate, George, Sawyer, and McCaelah who were a special part of her life.
Judy had a gift for making life feel full—whether she was tending her garden or planning her next trip. While we will miss her more than words can express, we find comfort in knowing she is now walking with Jesus, surrounded by the peace that passes all understanding. She lived an incredible 85 years, and we are grateful for the memories, strength, and legacy she leaves behind.
