Ken was born on October 10th, 1939, in Dallas, Texas and spent most of his childhood in the Dallas area, sharing his home with his parents Wilbur and Ruth Lewis and two younger brothers Wilbur Jr. and Richard. He moved to Jefferson City, Missouri while in high school and attended the University of Missouri where he completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He then completed another Master’s degree at the University of Rochester before moving to St. Louis, Missouri to accept a job at IBM – the company he would eventually retire from in 1995.
In St. Louis, Ken knocked on a door to inquire about an available apartment and met Ann Boksenberg. They married in June of 1969 and built a life together, celebrating their 57th anniversary shortly before his death. Ken’s son Brad arrived in 1973, and in May of 1974, when work brought Ken and family to Atlanta, he moved into the house in East Cobb that would be his home for the next 52+ years. Two years later his daughter Becca was born.
Ken loved playing golf and bridge, and listening to classical music, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. His favorite days were always those spent with his wife, children, daughter-in-law Georgina Lewis, son-in-law Mike Herman, and three adored grandchildren, Reece Herman, Juliet Herman, and Kenny Lewis. His memory is cherished by each of them, his brothers, his sisters-in-law Ellen Lewis and Courtland Lewis, his nieces and nephews, and many other treasured friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 23rd at 2pm at the Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Community Assistance Center (https://ourcac.org/donate-online/).
