Marcos Terencio Tapia passed away on July 8, 2015 at the age of 95. Marcos, whom everyone called Abuelito, was born June 20, 1920, in Callao, Peru. He was the fifth born out of eight children to Marcos and Juana Tapia. He grew up in Callao, Peru where his life revolved around soccer. At the age of 15, he was picked by a soccer club to play professional for them. His dream was short lived because he became ill and was not allowed to play for over a year. The club later dismissed him. He started to work in the family business and became a master craftsman, making furniture. Here in the US he pursued his career and was always ready to build furniture for the daughters. In our homes, most of us display furniture made by him for us. We will cherish them and passed them down to our kids. He married Ofelia Nuñez in June of 1943, they fell in love in Peru, they came to the USA together and now after 71 years of marriage they are reunited again in heaven. He could not bear being away from her. Dad always followed her lead. In the US they concentrated in instilling the same values to the second generation of daughters as they had done with the first generation in our native Peru. He will be missed always by all our family here in the USA and Peru. The service will be at 136 Mount Vernon Highway Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Viewing is from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Service will be 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial at Arlington Memorial Park on July 12, 2015 at 4pm in the Sunrise Chapel Mausoleum.
