Margaret was born and raised in Bainbridge, Georgia to Avo Boles Cloud and Edward Albert Cloud. She graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University. Margaret was an Executive Assistant at Georgia Tech where she met and married Louis A. Holliman, a Republican activist and a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech until his death in 1979. Margaret is a member of North Atlanta Church of Christ and a big Georgia Tech fan!
She is survived by two sons, Gary Bryan (Ann) and Mike Bryan; two grandchildren, Mark Bryan (Jennifer) and Leah Prince (William); six great-grandchildren, her sister, JoAnne Newberry and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was elected President of the Georgia Federation of Republican Women in 1971 and served two full terms until 1975 and continued to serve on the Board of Directors in various positions.
In 1976 Margaret Holliman served as the Georgia Co-Chairman of the Reagan for President Committee. She again served in this capacity in 1980, she was elected as a delegate to three National GOP Conventions.
Margaret has been a member of the North Fulton County Republican Women’s Club since 1964. She served as President of that club on two different occasions. She was Precinct Chairman, Secretary of the GOP 5th Congressional District, a member of the State GOP Committee, Secretary of the Georgia GOP and recently, Assistant Parliamentarian of the Georgia GOP. Margaret’s strong belief of standing for principles made her a vital part of building the Georgia Federation of Republican Women and the Republican Party in Georgia.
Margaret enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She will always be remembered as an elegant, intelligent lady who also had a great sense of humor and was a leader in her community. She will be missed.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Sandy Springs Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123
