

Born in Atlanta on May 5, 1971, Marla grew up in Sandy Springs, and graduated from Brandon Hall School where she was a cheerleader and stage manager for school plays. She continued her education at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. While earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marla was an active member of Phi Mu sorority.
Marla started her career at Equifax in Atlanta. She then worked in human resources for a biopharmaceutical company, where she designed and implemented a benefit resource website for participants. That experience led her to accept a position as a Group Benefit Account Manager for Benefit Concepts, Inc., followed by a 12-year career as an Account Manager and Wellness Specialist for BIS Benefits in Alpharetta, Georgia.
A Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist, Marla spearheaded the wellness program at BIS Benefits, recognized multiple times by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of the “Top 10 Healthiest Employers” in the small-company category.
Marla loved traveling and creating special memories with her family and friends. Marla was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan, animal lover and ongoing supporter of the Atlanta Humane Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, watercolor painting, interior decorating and baking.
Marla is survived by her daughter, Kaitlyn; her parents, Brian and Julia McVinnie; her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Bryce Dryden, and niece Darby.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. The Rev. Mike Linch, Senior Pastor of NorthStar Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Atlanta Humane Society or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
