Nancy Anne Grant Dowis

Mrs. Nancy G. Dowis of Gainesville, formerly of Sandy Springs died November 30, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert S. Dowis, Sr. and is survived by daughter, Patricia Scarlett-Ferguson and her husband Stan R. Ferguson, Sr.; sons, Robert S. Dowis and Gordon A. Dowis grandchildren, Gordon A. Dowis Jr., Geoffrey A. Dowis, Angela D. Waagen, Elizabeth D. Strickland and seven great grandchildren. Sister, Shirley G. and her husband William Malone, niece Dawn Malone, nephew Buddy Malone. She worked for Atlanta Police Dept. as a school crossing guard at James L. Riley for 13 years, before there were women on the force and then worked for Norrell for 17 years, making their telephone system. She sang in the choir all her life at Wieuca Rd. Baptist Church. She was also a sister in the Metropolitan Atlanta City Council Phi, Nu Master Chapter for over 50 years and a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA. In lieu of flowers, she wanted donations given to the music department of First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel. Entombment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 pm until 4 pm and 6pm until 8 pm on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy. NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
