Pauline Hackney passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022. She is now with her Lord Jesus Christ and all of her friends and family who predeceased her. Pauline was born on January 8,1938 in Port Arthur, Texas and was raised by her loving grandmother Eva Sanford. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School and then Lamar University where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Pauline married her college sweetheart William Adrian Hackney on September 13,1958 and had three children, Missy, Paul and Greg.
Pauline made an impact every place she lived, making life long friends, getting involved and touching lives with her kind and gentle soul. She was an extremely dedicated, loving, and caring wife and mother. Pauline loved serving God and involved herself in church, singing in the choir, organizing Vacation Bible School, and teaching Sunday School. Always involved in her children’s extracurricular activities, she was always generous with both her time and resources. Pauline loved needlework, playing the piano, and travel.
Pauline followed Adrian’s career to New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Tuscaloosa. When her children were old enough to attend school, she was employed by the West Bank Guide Newspaper, Taylor Diving, and a law firm in New Orleans. Pauline and Adrian retired to the mountains of North Georgia in Big Canoe where they lived for 20 years. Pauline was a member of the Big Canoe Chapel choir as well as an organizer of the Panhellenic, book clubs and bridge clubs. She hosted the annual Kentucky Derby party for many years and mastered the making of the Derby Pie. Pauline and Adrian ultimately moved to Atlanta in 2018 to be closer to her children.
Pauline is survived by her husband of 64 years Adrian Hackney and her three children and their spouses, Greg Hackney, Paul and Roy Hackney, and Missy and Michael Stewart; her grandchildren Alexis Stewart and Tyler Rathburn and his wife Stephanie Delatorre and great grand daughter Charlotte Rathburn. She is known as Gran to her large blended family Marilyn and Stephanie Ramirez, Jaime Stewart, Eric, Ava and Ian Taylor, Heather Stewart, Mark, Annabelle, and Davis Lindenmuth, Meghan Stewart, Chas, Wesley, and Georgie Offutt, Michael and Delores Stewart, and their daughters, Rowan and Alessandra.
The family would like to thank Pauline’s “angel” caregivers Bridgette Cummings, Jacinth Williams, Ebony Phinesee, and Rhona Deacon for the wonderful care and support they provided to her and the family. They became part of our family and loved Mom so very much.
Pauline will be forever loved and forever missed.
