
Richard J. Kerr of Duluth, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the age of 74. Mr. Kerr was born in Michigan. He had resided in Georgia since 1983. He had been a teacher at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA and retired in 2000. Prior to that, he taught for many years in the Eastpointe, MI school system. He is remembered by his sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Nancy Cox (Dr. William H. Cox), Niece, Susan Bryant (Michael), Nephews, Dr. Stephen Cox, Gregory Cox (Ashly) and great nephews, Cole and Hunter Bryant and Jackson and Wyatt Cox. Mr. Kerr had a long-time affiliation with the American Legion in Gainesville, GA which reflected his pride in serving in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War Era. He was a graduate of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI and Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, MI. His body will be cremated. His ashes will be scattered in places where he held pleasant memories. At his request, no service will be held. Condolence donations may be made in Mr. Kerr’s memory to the Veterans Marker Program which places flags and markers around the city of Duluth for the commemorative holidays.
