Robert (Bobby, “Hero”) Davis Engelhart, Jr., 75, of Sandy Springs and East Cobb passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Bobby was a native Atlantan. He graduated from North Fulton High School in 1953, attended Georgia Tech, where he was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity, and graduated from Georgia State University. When he retired in 1997 after 43 years with Lockheed Martin, he was a Director in International Sales. He was also a retired Major with the Air National Guard. He was an active, longtime and faithful member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. Bobby is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jacquelyn Smith Engelhart; daughter, Laura Lynn Engelhart of Sandy Springs; son and daughter-in-law David Thornton and Kim Engelhart of Woodstock; grandsons, Christian Cole Engelhart and Cameron Arthur Engelhart; granddaughter, Sydney Alexis Engelhart; brother and sister-in-law, William Frederick and Lou Engelhart of Tucker; Sister-in-law, Lil Smith of Gainesville; and two nieces. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.at the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. Dr. Ken Ray and Rev. Kelly Barge will officiate. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Children’s Home, 500 South Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030 or to the Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Chancel Enhancement Fund, 86 Mt. Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 or to a charity of your choice. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, our Hero will be greatly missed until we are together again.
