With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Rose Mary Demeranville O’Boyle, who left this world on July 4, 2026, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on April 10, 1947, Mary was the beloved daughter of Samuel and Rose Mary Demeranville. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Thomas A. O'Boyle, Jr., her cherished grandson, Hugh McIntyre Williams, her loving parents, and her dear brothers Joey and John Demeranville.
Mary was a woman of great warmth and an unwavering spirit of generosity. Her life was a testament to love, kindness, and dedication to others. She married the love of her life, Tom, on December 27, 1969. Their union, though cut short by Tom's passing in 1979, was filled with joy and devotion. Mary remained devoted to Tom for the remainder of her years, honoring his memory in all she did.
A graduate of Bishop Toolen High School in 1966, Mary pursued her education at Spring Hill College. Her journey in life was enriched by her role as a mother, which she embraced wholeheartedly, staying home to nurture her children until 1989. She then embarked on a fulfilling career as a special education paraprofessional in Dekalb County, where she dedicated 30 years to supporting and educating children with special needs.
Mary was an active member of the North Dekalb Senior Center, where she served as a Board Member and participated in various classes, forging strong friendships that she cherished dearly. She was an avid reader and enjoyed walking with her dear friend and neighbor, Martha Lass. Mary was an enthusiastic supporter of her children and grandchildren, always present to celebrate their endeavors and successes.
Her vibrant spirit lives on through her children: Brett (Seth) O’Boyle-Williams, Patrick (Christine) O’Boyle, Ryan (Michael) Berry, and Regan (Christopher) O’Boyle-Pierce. She leaves behind nine treasured grandchildren: Reid, Grantham, and Hayes Williams, Maxwell and Harrison O’Boyle, Anna Berry, and Madelena, Collin, and Sullivan Pierce. Mary is also survived by her loving sister, Ryan Schwaner, and brother, Stephen Demeranville and her many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a beacon of love and support, known for her nurturing nature and her ability to uplift those around her through both good times and challenging ones. Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Northside Hospital and Georgia Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support during her journey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Mary’s memory to the American Cancer Society, with a special focus on supporting those battling the disease that took her from us too soon.
Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Mary’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
