He was a graduate of the University of St. Louis. His fondness of airplanes helped land him his first job at Lockheed Martin as a brake engineer and he retired from Lockheed after 35 years of service. Sid served as a Deacon for the First Baptist Church of Sandy Springs and among his many passions were fishing, traveling, reading, listening to Frank Sinatra and solving puzzles. Sid loved corvettes and had owned seven of them. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Thompson and was predeceased by his son Troy Thompson and is survived by his daughter Joanne Bradberry: sons, Terry Thompson, Joey Cochran and David Cochran. Also surviving are grandchildren, Julie Saunders, Melissa Saunders and Neil Saunders and great grandchildren, Forrest Thompson and Amya Thompson. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. with a Funeral Service at 11 am on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Sandy Springs Chapel. Dr. Terry Quick and Rev. David Shivers will officiate. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
