

Stephen was born on October 21, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, to Claire and Herman Cohen. In 1943, he moved with his family to Miami Beach, Florida, where he was raised on South Beach and developed a lifelong love for the city and community that shaped him.
A proud graduate of Miami Beach Senior High School, Stephen went on to earn his degree from the University of Miami, an institution that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He was a devoted and lifelong supporter of the University of Miami Hurricanes, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Canes.
Stephen built a distinguished career as a Certified Public Accountant and forensic accountant. He was known for his professionalism, sharp intellect, and unwavering commitment to honesty and excellence. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike for his expertise, dedication, and ethical character.
Above all else, Stephen is treasured by his family. He is lovingly survived by his children, Scott Cohen, Todd Cohen, and Ellen (Darryl) Laddin. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Cade and Cooper Cohen, and Sara Claire and Maya Laddin, each of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride. He is also survived by his longtime partner, Wendy Friedland, his adoring niece, Debbie Hagler, and other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Herman Cohen, his brother, Robert Cohen and grandson Aiden Cohen.
He will be remembered for his intelligence, quiet strength, sense of humor, steadfast values, and deep devotion to his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the example he set through a life well lived.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
