I was so saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was always such an interesting and fun guy to be around. While I don't have any contact information for you Kathy, I hope this post gets to you to let you know that my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family. He will definitely be missed by all that knew him.

I am so very sorry to hear of Steve's death and send condolences to his family for Tom, my husband of 62 year who died March 31, 2016, but worked closely with Steve for years at Georgia Pacific and would have had words of praise for Steve, I am sure.  I hope Kathy and their family will be comforted with love and support from family and friends far and near, just as we have been.   God's love and peace be with you, Kathy Withycombe

Steve is simply one of the best. I am fortunate to have known him the majority of my life and have him as a friend and mentor. He and Kathy were my surrogate parents when I lived in Atlanta and I know it gave my parents some peace of mind to know that they were close by as I began finding my way post college. 

While I'm still finding my way, albeit in a different city, I often lean on advice Steve gave me along the way. 

I will always cherish those first few months in Atlanta when Kathy and Steve were kind enough to put me up at Club Jackson (not to mention take me out to great restaurants all around the city!). I have many fond memories of great stories, abundant laughter (and wine) and sage advice from those days.

Kathy, Mike, Mark and Matt - you are all in my thoughts. The Jacksons and the Brewsters are an integral part of the Phillips family story and he will be missed.

Steve was my first boss out of college, and was my professional mentor my entire 40+ career.  I will miss him terribly. We did some very special business activities together that generated some wonderful stories and memories that will last forever. Kathy, so sorry to hear about Steve's passing.  He was a good man, and good to me.  He was responsible for me going to the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District.  I will forever be grateful, and I missed working and talking with him.

Kathy, you lost a fine husband, a good father to your 3 boys and 5 grandchildren. We lost a good friend of many years working together at Georgia Pacific. 
We will miss you Steve but those many memories will be treasures that will be with us always.

Kathy - I'm so sorry for your loss.  Steve and I go back to Portland days when our boys played soccer together.  He was always so upbeat and enthusiastic and he certainly contributed a great deal to GP.

From the time I first met Steve in my early career & late 20's to the decades later long after McCann having a too infrequent lunch together now that I'm in my early 60s, Steve was, without exception, gracious, kind, funny and rock solid as a no BS pro who made people around him motivated and pleased to be in his company. My condolences to all Steve's family. A "class guy in every way" doesn't begin to say enough about someone who treated others so graciously regardless of their standing, but it's a modest and accurate start. Thank you, thank you, Steve. God bless this special man.
