Born in Savannah, Georgia, Terry was the son of Edwin Ezekial Jenkins and Lida Mae Hussey Jenkins. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Kent State University and continued his education in a master’s program at Northwestern University. He later established his roots in Cleveland, where he began a career in communications and journalism.
Terry went on to join IBM Corporation as a communications specialist, a role that eventually brought him to Atlanta, Georgia. Over the course of 23 years with IBM, he served in a variety of impactful roles, including executive speechwriter, communications writer, and press relations specialist. He concluded his career there as Manager in the Sales Recognition Events Division, where he combined his professional expertise with his creative talents. In this role, Terry led a team responsible for producing high-level entertainment events featuring professional singers, comedians, and well-known personalities, all designed to honor IBM’s top sales performers. Following his tenure at IBM, Terry spent ten years working alongside two associates in their own communications firm before retiring at the age of 62.
Retirement opened the door to new creative pursuits. Terry developed a passion for abstract painting, working from his garage studio, and later turned to his first love, writing. He went on to write and self-publish four novels of fiction, dedicating several years to completing one particularly meaningful work.
Terrell will be remembered for his creativity, intellect, and deep appreciation for the arts, as well as for his warmth and devotion to his family and friends. He was an honored Veteran and proud of his 2-yr. military tour in the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his two children, Brian Jenkins (Nicki), Kathy Jenkins Willis; and four grandchildren, Shannon, Sean, Jacob and Cooper.
A private graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, GA
