Wayne Peter Merisotis, 79 of Atlanta, was born August 5, 1946 in Hartford, CT to the late Laraine Zukaskus and Peter Merisotis. He leaves his full brother, Stephen and half-brothers, Michael, Christopher, Jamie, and Emmanuel.
Wayne would often reflect on his time with his stepmother Diana, and comment on how she loved him like he was her own. Wayne had two achievements in life that he was very proud of: serving the Navy in the Vietnam war and practicing as an attorney in the city of Atlanta. A graduate of John Marshall Law School, he had a successful law practice in Decatur. Unfortunately, in 2012 Wayne suffered a stroke and heart attack, leaving him disabled and dependent on others. He remained in the care of the staff of Nursecare of Buckhead, who kept his spirits up with talks of politics, smoke breaks, and allowing Wayne to entertain the staff with stories from his younger years indulging in Atlanta nightlife. We are grateful for their years of care up until his peaceful passing.
A Funeral Service will be held at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mount Vernon Hwy NW, Atlanta, GA on July 24, 2026 at 10:00am followed by interment at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Wayne’s honor to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
