

William M. Holmberg, Jr.passed away March 2, 2015. He was born on February 8, 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Beulah Holmberg and his parents of Copenhagen, Denmark. Bill lived in Atlanta for 46 years. He graduated from Key West High School and later the University of Miami, in civil engineering. After returning from the Navy, Bill had a successful career as a civil engineer and retired from Lockwood, Greene Engineers, a large regional engineering firm. Bill engaged in many interests and community service. An avid runner, he participated in the Peachtree Road Race over 20 years. He enjoyed cooking and painting. Bill served on various committees at The Church of the Atonement and as a Scout Master for many years. He also volunteered at a reading program at High Point Elementary. He is survived by his two children, Martha H. Mathis (Sam) and William Mark Holmberg (Cindy) and four grandchildren: Alexis Holmberg Vien (Brad), Rachael Asta Holmberg, William Jack Mathis and Donna Jean Mathis. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 6 at 1:00pm with visitation at 12:00pm at The Church of the Atonement, 4945 Highpoint Rd. Atlanta 30342. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or The Church of the Atonement.
