

Zack Ryan, 91, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011. Zack was a native Atlantan, and served his country fighting in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Ryan graduated from the University of Georgia and later married Elizabeth Arnold. He enjoyed a successful career in insurance marketing, predominately with Maryland Casualty Company travelling extensively throughout Georgia. He had a close relationship with his daughter, Natalie, and was an avid host for family events, holidays, and beach trips. After receiving numerous awards, Mr. Ryan retired to St Simon’s Island, GA. In 1994, after 48 happy years of marriage, Mr. Ryan’s wife Elizabeth died. In 1999, he married his lifelong friend Frances Miles. He was a member of St. Luke’s Presbyterian and had a special place in his heart for Georgia Bulldog football. He is survived by his wife, Frances Ryan; his daughter, Natalie (John) Gemmill of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Ryan Gemmill and his fiancé, Ainsley Elsworthy both of Sandy Springs, GA. The family will receive friends Monday, December 12, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, 1978 Mt. Vernon Rd. Dunwoody, GA 30338, followed by a graveside service at Arlington Cemetery in Sandy Springs, GA.
