On the evening of Friday, August 4, 2023, James Artilius Ankton was called home by the Lord. James (also called Jimmy) was born to James Ankton and Johnnie (Hutcherson) Ankton on December 2, 1963 at Crittenton General Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Upon completion of Henry Ford High School, he relocated to California to attend San Diego State College. James was a phenomenal basketball player and an avid reader.
A private family viewing will be held at Family Mortuary in Santa Ana, California on August 10, 2023. He is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Johnsil; father, James (wife Lisa); son, Juwan; daughter, Jamesha; sister, Jennifer; brothers, Jeffrey and Jamal; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
