Richie was a long-time resident of Santa Paula, California. He worked as a butcher throughout the country for approximately 40 years. He was a friend to many and will be remembered for his love of art and music. He found much joy in creating and expressing himself through his art work. He was also a very skilled athlete especially in gymnastics and football in his high school years.
Richie was a person one would call a melophile: deeply passionate about music. He found passion in elevating the talents of musicians he mentored. He also loved to dance!
He attended local schools and graduated from SPUHS Class of 1965. Richie was very well read ...especially in world religions. He enjoyed sharing what he learned in conversations with many friends. He was passionate and devoted to the legacy of Mr. John Devine, a teacher at Isbell middle school in Santa Paula. Richie was instrumental in helping raise funds for the John M. Devine gym at Isbell school.
Richie will be deeply missed by his family and many, many friends. He is survived by his siblings, Martha Ellis, Mel Arellano, David Arellano and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents: Ricardo and Bernarda Arellano, and his sisters: Beatriz, Rosa, and Annie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
