

Eddie Vega, age 85, of Santa Paula, CA passed away on December 29, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born September 26, 1936 in Piru, CA. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
When Eddie went to School, he went on a bus to Fillmore. When Eddie was a young man, he worked with his father at Camula Ranch in Piru, CA. helping with irrigation and spraying chemicals on the crops. Later in the summer, he would go visit his cousins Trino and Vincent Martinez in Hollister, California. In Gilroy they would go picking prunes. He loved his cousins. Eddie enlisted in the Army on October 25, 1954 and served three years until October 24, 1957. He was stationed in Fr. Bragg, N.C. He served his time during The Korean War Conflict. Eddie was a proud American. Eddie belonged to the 187th Airborne Regimental Color Guard Rakkasans /Condor Chapter. He was in many parades with the club and he held the America Republic Flag with pride.
He enjoyed attending Sacred Heart Church in Saticoy, with Father Al (Aloysius Ezeonyeka) “Amen!” Eddie belonged to the Knights of Columbus, when he went to Guadalupe Church in Santa Paula.
Eddie and his son Victor helped his cousin Felix Vega set up his boxing ring for tournaments. It was called; Santa Paula Vega’s Boxing Club. Eddie worked for The Navy Munitions Command Det. Point Mugu. He was given a plaque that said “With Respect and Affection”. Eddie worked from October 1956- July 2010, a total of 54 years.
In the time he worked at the base, he held many jobs, one being targets. Eddie was also a Security Guard for Cornwell Security. Later, when he met Susan he got her to work with him at Cornwell doing Security also. They made a great team. Eddie was a Security Guard at the Ventura County Fair and later got his wife Susan to work alongside him. He enjoyed watching Fox news all day long, football “Go Chiefs!” watching movies and playing and dancing with his three dogs (Taz, Ginger and Jr.).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Angelina Vega, his first wife Viola Vega, his son Victor Vega and sisters Connie Alvarez and Dolores Maynard.
He is survived by his wife Susan Vega; his sons Edward Vega Jr., Richard Vega and Ernest Aparicio ,his daughter Maryann Medrano; Nick Coronado, Anthony Medina and Mathew Medina; His brother Tony Vega; His sisters Lupe Ramirez, Jessie Olivares and Becky Pillado; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and a great grandchild.
He will greatly be missed. May he be in Peace with the Lord.
