Throughout her life, she called many places across Southern California home. Raised in part by her older sisters, she lived in the San Fernando Valley, La Habra, and Ventura before eventually finding her home in Indio, California.
Gloria was a true matriarch of her family. She had a hand in raising generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins, many of whom carry fond and cherished memories of the time they spent with her. Her presence became a part of countless childhoods, and the love and influence she gave to her family will continue.
Gloria had many interests and hobbies, ranging from creating floral arrangements, genealogy, going to the casino and watching horror movies. She was also a devout Catholic whose faith remained an important part of her life. She believed deeply in the sanctity of her religion and in the enduring love of God.
Gloria will be missed in ways that words cannot adequately express. Her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the family she helped shape, but her memory will live on through the
generations who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca Bottorff, Sonia Rieder, and Yasmin Calzada; her son James Calzada; her three grandchildren, Britt Lederer, Joey Puerto, and Mia Rodriguez;
and her great-grandchild, Atlas Puerto. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones who will carry her memory forward.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Selestino Calzada; her parents, Dolores and Sotero Mojica; and her four sisters.
A rosary service will be held in Gloria’s honor at Funeraria del Angel in Santa Paula on Monday, August 17, at 6:00 p.m., with visitation from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 18, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.
