Born on July 5, 1927, in Santa Paula, California; Stella was the daughter of Faustino and Tranquilina Lopez. Stella dedicated 30 years of her working life to the local packing houses at Briggs Lemon and then later Saticoy Lemon, where she served as a supervisor. She selflessly would help care for her two grandsons while working. Years later she then retired early so that she could also help in taking care of her granddaughter.
Stella's greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly survived by her son, Michael (wife Victoria) Cortez. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Michael Cortez Jr., Mark (wife Andrea) Cortez, and Monique (husband Daniel) Orosco.
She was a proud great-grandmother to Serena Cortez, Mark Cortez Jr., Elysia Cortez, Justin Cortez, Mikaela Orosco, and Noah Orosco. Stella was especially delighted to know that her family would continue to grow with the anticipated arrival of her first great-great-grandson, Felix Michael.
In addition to raising her own family, Stella lovingly helped raise her nephew, John Torres, who held a special place in her heart. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support touched the lives of many members of her extended family that includes many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her loving siblings, Alice Lopez and Albert (wife Carmen) Lopez. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Faustino and Tranquilina Lopez, and her siblings Roberto Lopez, Francisco Lopez, Selso Lopez, Jose Lopez, Lydia Torres, Aurelio Lopez, and Simon Lopez.
Stella will be remembered for the love she shared so generously with her family and for the strength, kindness, and wisdom she passed from one generation to the next. Her life was a testament to the enduring importance of family, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family appreciates the love, prayers, and support shown during this time of remembrance.
