Gaile Ferrian Fry
December 12, 1943 – October 19, 2018
Gaile Ferrian Fry, 74, loving father of five children, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Santa Rosa, California with his daughter by his bedside.
He battled liver failure. His sons helped take care of him for a full year, during his time of need.
Gaile was born on December 12, 1943 in Richmond, CA. He grew up in Oroville and Marysville. He raised his family in Napa. Later in life, he moved to Sacramento and ended up retiring in San Felipe, Mexico (Baja, CA).
On September 5, 1963, at the young age of 19 years old, Gaile and Diane Filice married and had 3 boys (Tracy, Troy and Tony) within their 5 years of marriage.
On August 9, 1970, Gaile and Shirley Kvamme married and had 2 children (Yvonne and Adam).
Gaile was a Self-Employed General Contractor, Termite & Pest Control Operator. Gaile and Shirley ran their company business from their home in Napa, for many years, while raising all 5 kids together. Gaile then pursued a job as a Correctional Officer at Ely, Nevada State Prison, where he worked for a short time. Gaile enjoyed being on the road and traveling so much, he decided to change jobs and went to work for Greyhound as a Bus Driver.
Gaile retired and moved to Mexico, where he enjoyed his peace and quiet time. He had many friends whom he loved to entertain. Gaile was a positive person, always laughing and telling jokes. His job in Mexico was to make people happy!
His hobbies included free movies every week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and playing Mexican Dominoes on Tuesday, Thursdays and Sundays. Gaile particularly loved Superman, Star Trek, Star Wars, and James Bond movies. He also loved frogs and had an extensive frog collection.
Gaile had a pilot’s license and he enjoyed flying small airplanes and an ultralight aircraft. He loved Lincoln Continentals and he owned several of them over the course of this lifetime. Gaile also enjoyed traveling! He has travelled to Hawaii and Mexico on numerous occasions. He has also enjoyed vacations in Alaska, Australia, Bahamas, Iceland and Venezuela. Out of all of the places Gaile has travelled, he enjoyed San Felipe, Mexico the most.
Gaile is preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Juanita Fry and sister Melba “Diane” Appleyard.
Gaile loved having a big family!! He is survived by his UNCLE: Estel (Betty) Fry, BROTHER: Gilbert “Duane” (Patti) Fry; BROTHER-IN-LAW: Jerry Appleyard;
5 CHILDREN; SONS: Tracy (Lisa), Troy (Danielle), Tony (Teresa) and Adam Fry and only DAUGHTER: Yvonne (Raymond) Gottschall;
18 GRANDCHILDREN: Lesley, Amanda, Mindi (Kehl), Brandan, Justina (Daniel), Raymond (Yezenia), Dakota, Michael (Marjorie), Rachel, Damian (Mariah), Julia, Jordan, Hayden (Sierra), Brittany, Austin, Aaron, Kirstyn and Justin;
17 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Gina, Isabella, Lucca, Riley, Adrian, Kyrie, Conner, Rydan, Olivia, Aschlen, Madison, Reese, Marilyn, Vyolette, Ryder, Kelly, Maverick and one more on the way, due June 2019.
NIECE: Leanne (Jorge) Ruiz-Chavez; NEPHEWS: Jason (Lisa) Fry and Ryan (Vikki) Appleyard; GREAT-NEPHEWS: Anthony, JJ, Zack, Cannon and Lawson; GREAT-NIECES: Bianca, Landry, JoJo and Kennedy; and many COUSINS.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. at Westminster Woods, 6510 Bohemian Hwy, Occidental, California 95403 for family and close friends.
Gaile was a big believer that there were “No Bad Days” in San Felipe. As a final request, there will be a second Celebration of Life in San Felipe Mexico, set on a date to be determined, at which time, his ashes will be taken up in an ultralight plane and sprinkled into the Sea of Cortez in San Felipe, Mexico.
