Acy Leonard Long - a 98 year-old native of Winston County, Alabama and longtime resident of Saraland passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023. Mr. Long was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and retired from Scott Paper Company as a supervisor after 40 years of service. He He was a former coach and district director in Dixie Youth Sports and served a s city councilman in Saraland for many years. he was a member of the Central Church of Christ and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Colleen Long, and son Ricky Lynn Long. He is survived by two sons, Robert Long (Carol) and Michael Long (Sherry); grandchildren, Nichole Mayo, Robert S. Long, Josh Long, Emily Long, Amber Scott, Donald Bunch and Chris Bunch; great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
