Barbara Ann Selman Stewart

Barbara Ann Selman Stewart - a 71 year-old native of Houston, MS and longtime resident of Chickasaw passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mrs. Stewart was a graduate of Huntingdon College and an active member of Chickasaw United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Lydia Circle and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served as a Worthy Matron of the John B. Shearer Chapter and was a Past Grand Martha of the Alabama Grand Chapter O.E.S. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian M. "Mac" and Ruby W. Selman. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, John M. Stewart; sons, Mike Stewart (Stephanie), Richard Stewart (Fredalyn), and Jimmy Stewart (Erica); brothers, William Selman and John Selman; grandchildren, Jayne, Elizabeth, Ryan, Kamryn, and Landon Stewart; nephew, Sean Selman; many other relatives and friends. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Sister Sharon Defever as well as all the nurses on the 12th floor at Providence Hospital, especially Jessie and Jessica. Funeral services will be held from Chickasaw United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday, October 7, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Chickasaw United Methodist Church Youth Fund, 108 Lee St., Chickasaw, AL 36611.
