

Barbara Joann (Cooper) Trout, long time resident of Chickasaw, AL, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022. She was surrounded in love by her devoted husband of 54 years and her three children. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.
Barbara was born on August 23, 1947 to JC and Mary (Stanley) Cooper. Barbara grew up in Semmes, AL. She was a graduate of the 1965 class of Semmes High School and went on to the University of South Alabama where she would meet her future husband.
Barbara was united in marriage to Jim Trout in Chickasaw, AL on May 6, 1967. They remained in Chickasaw where they raised their family and were very active in the community. Barbara’s whole life was devoted to her family. She was an active participant in whatever her children were involved in: she coached the city swim team. She was a girl scout and a cub scout leader. Barbara spent many years at the ballpark working with the Dixie Youth Baseball program. She also served on the Chickasaw Library Board and worked with the Chickasaw Civic Theatre. Her activities won her a nomination as Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1974.
Barbara was an active member of the Chickasaw United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Beckham Sunday School Class and worked with the youth as an MYF leader. Barbara loved to read and sew. She met weekly with her quilting group that made quilts for veterans. She also made numerous quilts for friends and family.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents JC and Mary Cooper and mother-n-law, Ina Trout. She is survived by her husband, Jim Trout, her three children, Jay Trout (Tracy), Kathy Trout Crenshaw, and Jeff Trout (Desiree); 11 grandchildren, Brent Petrick (Brittany), Averie Pouliot (Geoffrey), Bailey Stephenson (Jack), Jake Trout, Gracie May, Michael May, Stephanie Glover, Mallory Bosarge (Aldin), Chloe Crenshaw, Cooper Crenshaw, Jaxon Trout, Landon Trout and 3 great children, Kaden, Wesley and Connor Petrick; her brother Joe Cooper (Lynda) and sisters Jan Farley (Ron), Debbie Jeffries, Susan (Terri) Cooper, Charlotte Leo (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara is loved by so many! She will be truly missed!
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 10 at Chickasaw United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 – 12:00 with the service immediately following. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Chickasaw United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
