

Benford Franklin “Frank” Shirey – a 62 year-old native of Mobile and resident of Satsuma passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012. He retired from Standard Furniture as fleet manager. He was a member of Open Arms Ministry, serving as its treasurer and was the former co-owner of Indian Bowling Lanes in Chickasaw. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed bowling. Mr. Shirey was preceded in death by his infant son, Kenneth Edward Shirey, and parents, Loyd B. and Helen Robinson Shirey. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julia “Judy” Shirey; two children, Angelia Shirey Pritchard (Paul) and Frank Shirey; son-in-spirit, Brian Facemire; sisters, Phyllis Harwell (Douglas), Gloria Shirey (Jim), and Deb Smith; six grandchildren, Jessica Watson (Andrew), Chase Pritchard (Sara), Marissa Pritchard, Blake Leger, Jenna Shirey, and Cole Shirey; great-grandson, Gavin Watson; sister-in-law and dear friend, Shirley Walters; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 10 a.m. with his pastor and fishing buddy, Rev. Mike Walters, officiating.
