Betty Jean Platt (née Robinson) passed away peacefully in the presence of family on March 22, 2024, in Mobile, Alabama, at the age of 85. She was born on August 19, 1938, in Kelly, Louisiana, and was raised in Mobile, Alabama. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also shared a special bond with her brother, “Bubba,” that she deeply missed after his passing.
She enjoyed her career as a dental hygienist and later retired with her husband to Spanish Fort, Alabama. She had a passion for sewing, reading, baking, and the outdoors. In her later years, she found joy in puzzles, playing video games with her brother, as well as spending time with her older great-grandchildren as they gamed. She was known for her competitive spirit and unbeatable skills in board games and dominoes. She also loved to "burn up the roads” and was no stranger to a spontaneous road trip.
Betty Jean Platt is survived by her son, Wiley Mixon Platt, Jr. (wife, Nona); granddaughters, Misty Platt Dyas (husband, Christopher) and Jessica Platt Clifton (husband, Brennan); and great-grandchildren, Ivy Camille Steiner, Sonny Paige Clifton, Emmett Mixon Clifton, and baby Clifton (due in August). Her grandson, Jarred Lee Platt. Her daughter, Joyce Lynn Patrick; grandchildren, Terra DeAnn Carter, Devan Danielle Powe, and David Justin Powe; and great-grandchildren, Roarke Conley, Madison Yarnell, Amber Yarnell, and Haleigh Powe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee Robinson, Sr. and Bertha Lee Robinson; her husband, Wiley Mixon Platt, Sr.; her brother, Robert Lee "Bubba" Robinson, Jr.; her son, Ronnie Lee Platt; and her grandson, Jason Heath Platt.
Private funeral arrangements are being handled by Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, Alabama.
Jean will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. May she rest in peace in the arms of the Lord.
