Bobby Rudolph Raines

A proud veteran, Bobby honorably served his country in the Army National Guard for six years. Following his military service, he continued a life dedicated to serving others through his career with the Saraland Fire Department, where he faithfully served as a firefighter for 23 years. His commitment to his country, community, and helping others were qualities that defined his life.

While Bobby was proud of his service to his country and community, nothing meant more to him than his family. He loved spending time with those he loved and looked forward to every family gathering.

To his family, he was lovingly known as Pawpaw, but his love extended far beyond his own grandchildren. He welcomed their friends and every child who came into his life with open arms, treating them like family. He loved watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and simply having them around.

Although a die-hard Alabama football fan, Bobby loved his baseball too, especially catching his grandsons’ games, which he rarely missed. He followed Saraland and Southern Miss baseball closely, and when he wasn’t at the ballpark, he could usually be found fishing or supporting his granddaughters at their dance recitals.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Linda Jo Raines with whom he shared 62 beautiful years of marriage; his three daughters, Teresa Raines Smith (the late Terry Smith), Amy Raines Philen (Glenn), and Kathryn Raines Flowers (Randy); his four grandchildren, Bradley Owen (Brittney), Cassie Philen, Ben Riley Flowers, and Leanne Smith Miller, his great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Jackson, Paxton, and Blakeleigh, and his nieces and nephews; along with many other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Bobby will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a proud veteran; a dedicated firefighter; and a man who deeply loved his family. His legacy of service, love, and devotion will live on through the generations of family who were blessed to know and love him.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm from First Baptist Church Satsuma, 5600 Old Hwy. 43, Satsuma, Alabama 36572. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 am prior to services. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
