Brenda Hammac Hayes - an 81 year-old native of Starkville, MS and resident of Semmes, AL passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. She retired from Mobile County Public School System after 40 years of service as a bus driver. Mrs. Hayes was a member of Snow Road First Baptist Church, a former longtime member of Orchard Baptist Church, and enjoyed cooking. She will be remembered as being fun, caring, kind and a loving woman. She loved God, her family, her dog Saban and Alabama football. She had a zest for life and did her best to live each day to the fullest. She had the most contagious giggle. Her house was the place to be. She was always adopting new family members. If you knew her, you loved her. There was nothing she wouldn’t have done for the people that she loved. She passed on her strong faith in the Lord, her sense of adventure and love of Alabama football to her family. She will be remembered as an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents, George Travis Hammac and Tressie D. Taylor Hammac, and husband, Joseph Franklin Hayes. She is survived by her children, Frankie Graham (Gary), George Hayes (Kathy), Melissa Butts, Tonya Wittner (Richard), and Beth Martin (Tracy); 9 grandchildren, Rachel Clark, Brenda Lott, Megan Graham, Lindsay Swann, Jeremy Butts, Kyle Butts, Andrea Wittner, Avery Willcutt, Kaitlyn Martin; 9 great-grandchildren, Abby, Olivia, Emily Clark, Taylor Byrd, Hayes Lott, Bailey and Madison Butts, Elijah Swann and Josie Swann; lifelong friends, Otis Charles "OC" Wiggins and Juanita Wiggins; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Dr. Paul Montalvo officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
